Terms of use

Using Brief
Brief provides personal notes, reminders, calendar connections, and optional AI features. You are responsible for your account, content, and permitted use of connected services. Keep your password and recovery key private. Do not use Brief to violate laws, others’ rights, or provider terms.
Brief Pro
Brief Pro is an optional monthly or yearly auto-renewing app store subscription. The store displays your localized price and confirms the purchase and any eligible offer. Your store account is charged and renewals are billed unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. Manage or cancel through your app store settings. Restore purchases while signed in to the Brief account used to purchase. Deleting Brief or its account does not cancel a store subscription. Store rules govern refunds.
AI allowance
A Brief Pro plan includes 200 credits per calendar month, resetting at 00:00 UTC on the first. Annual subscriptions have the same monthly allowance. Eligible free accounts can claim 10 one-time credits through a supported, server-verified iPhone. Each account and phone can claim once; changing accounts, deleting an account, or reinstalling Brief does not renew the phone’s trial. Contact support for a second-hand phone or a failed claim. Organization, Ask, and a morning summary use one credit each; voice transcription uses five, plus one if organized. Calls count once dispatched to a provider, including failures and cancellations after dispatch. Unused credits do not roll over. Brief checks access online; offline purchases cannot unlock hosted AI until verified. Core local notes and reminders remain available without Pro.
Sandbox testing
Apple sandbox and TestFlight purchases do not charge real money. Where enabled, verified sandbox subscriptions receive a separate 20-credit test allowance per Brief account and share a 100-credit daily service ceiling. Test renewals do not refill the allowance. Managed sandbox text AI uses OpenAI; production plans keep their normal allowance. Contact support for review assistance if a test limit is reached.
Your own provider key
You can choose to fund AI with your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key when available. Provider charges are separate from Brief Pro and from ChatGPT or Claude subscriptions. You are responsible for API charges, key permissions, and spending limits. Brief sends a selected key through its backend only for your request, stores it on this device, and does not save it on the server. No paid managed fallback happens automatically. Anthropic keys do not provide voice transcription; add an OpenAI API key for that. Remove the key in Brief and revoke it with your provider if needed.
AI and reminders
AI may be inaccurate. Review names, facts, sources, and reminder times before acting. Brief is not a substitute for professional advice or a critical alarm system. Device permissions, Focus settings, and operating system restrictions affect delivery. Availability depends on network and third-party services.
Privacy and support
Brief’s Privacy policy explains data sent to providers, storage, retention, account deletion, and your choices. Contact support@withbrief.app for help. Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the iOS app where no separate custom license has been registered.
