Brief support
Brief turns text, screenshots, and voice memos into editable notes, reminders, and a morning brief.
For help, feedback, or privacy questions, email support@withbrief.app. Include your Brief version and iOS version. Please avoid attaching sensitive notes or recordings.
Notifications
Check notification permission in your phone’s Settings. Save a reminder for a future time. Your phone’s Focus settings can silence delivery. Complete, Snooze 15 min, and Reschedule actions open Brief after unlocking. Repeating reminders move to their next date when you complete the current occurrence.
AI
Review AI sharing permission in Brief’s Settings. You can save and edit notes yourself when AI is off or unavailable. Ask Brief answers questions from selected notes with supporting quotes. Original text and voice transcripts require your choice; recordings and screenshots are excluded. Check the linked notes before acting on an answer.
AI plans and keys
Open Profile → AI & plan for Brief Pro, your allowance, or your own OpenAI/Anthropic API key when available. Store prices appear before purchase; restore while signed in to the Brief account used to purchase. Provider API billing is separate from ChatGPT/Claude subscriptions. Voice transcription requires OpenAI. Removing a key in Brief does not revoke it at the provider. Cancel a subscription in your app store settings separately from deleting Brief or its account.
Free AI credits
Creating an account does not grant AI credits automatically. On a supported iPhone, open AI & plan and claim the one-time allowance when available. A phone can claim once, including after account deletion or reinstall. If you bought a second-hand phone or a claim failed, contact Brief support. Do not send device tokens, API keys, or recordings in email. Local notes and reminders remain free.
Delete a note
Open the note and choose Delete note. Its local attachment and reminder are removed from Brief. A previously shared cloud copy is separate: remove it in Apps & sharing → AI connector. Exported copies are kept wherever you shared them.
AI app connections
Add Brief as a custom connector inside ChatGPT or Claude, then approve its code in Brief’s AI connector screen. Only explicitly shared notes can be read. Notes and reminders created there download when you open Brief; phone alerts start after that download.
Calendar and workspaces
The top-left calendar shows Brief reminders, selected Google events, and chosen iPhone calendars by day. Apple Calendar requires full calendar permission in Brief’s own iPhone app and only reads your chosen calendars. Disconnect it in Profile to remove the local selection and cached events, or revoke its permission in iPhone Settings. Google Calendar can also show meetings and related saved notes. Up to three viewed months stay available offline; unvisited months may need a connection. A failed refresh keeps the last complete agenda. Saving a meeting creates a separate Brief note. Linear and Notion connections, when available, export only reviewed text to a team or parent page. If a send cannot be confirmed, check your workspace before starting a new export. Disconnecting or deleting a Brief account does not delete exported items.
Cloud account
Save your recovery key in a password manager. Account recovery uses your username and that key, not email. In Apps & sharing → AI connector you can remove shared copies, disconnect an AI app, or delete your Brief account. Account deletion removes its shared cloud notes and blocks its connections; local phone notes remain.
